Welcome to Hirst Marine Surveyors

Welcome to our Newsletter that will keep you updated with our services, projects and general information from within the Marine Industry. Foremost, we are happy to announce the formation of Hirst Marine Surveyors, Ltd., located in Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

For the last 40 Years we have been doing business as Robert W. Hirst & Co, Ltd.(Marine Surveyors). In an effort to modernize our company’s presence and continue as the leader of Marine Surveying in the BVI and greater Caribbean, we are improving our web presence.

We are proud to welcome our newest surveyor on staff, Mr. Andrew Waters.  Andrew has come to us from Conch Charters, where he worked as one of the Fleet/Operations Managers.

Having sailed since the age of nine, Andrew has dedicated his life to sailing both professionally and personally. With multiple transatlantic crossings, captaining vessels through the Indian Ocean and the Med. and competitively racing in the Caribbean, Andrew has amassed nearly 100,000 offshore nautical miles. Ultimately culminating his experience by qualifying as a RYA Yachtmaster Instructor.  Prior to joining the company, Andrew spent 10 years as the Operations Manager at Conch Charters, Ltd., at which he managed a 50 yacht fleet and Catamaran Charters, Ltd., managing a fleet of 36 yachts. He has excellent first hand knowledge of charter yacht maintenance and management, including known issues and the various design strengths and weaknesses across a broad spectrum of charter yachts.

Andrew joins our existing team of Surveyors including: Michael Hirst (Managing Director and Marine Surveyor), Robert (Bill) Hirst (Consultant and Senior Marine Surveyor) and Thomas Merrigan (In house Council and Marine Surveyor).

Our Goal is to provide our clients with the highest quality of service, based on professionalism and ethics.  Whether it is a Purchase, Charter Yacht Phase Out, Insurance, Registration, Damage or Consultation services, contact us to discuss your survey needs and get a firm quotation.
